The framework brings The Best Years of Our Lives up to present day when three returning soldiers return home from the Iraq war and encounter similar struggles re-adapting to civilian life. Robbins plays the lead progrtagonist version of the Fredric March roleAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06016872501737355544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266006862101015198.post-78590201268741052162011-07-07T09:25:21.502-07:002011-07-07T09:25:21.502-07:00I just found your blog, and I enjoyed your comment...I just found your blog, and I enjoyed your comments very much. I love this movie and have always thought that its dramatic and visual merits exceeds its schmaltz. I like your point about the way the music in one scene underplays the possibly cloying emotion. You could say the same about where Wyler puts the camera (inside the cab) to shoot the reunion scene when Homer returns home. He also resists the urge to put in a close-up when his parents look at his hooks for the first time (as he waves goodbye to the cab). The bedroom scene between Homer and Wilma is partly shot with their backs to the camera, which I've always thought downplays the potentially syrupy emotion. I like William Wyler.Glenn Hoppnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266006862101015198.post-26403803656948394982011-03-23T12:10:15.277-07:002011-03-23T12:10:15.277-07:00Awesome, Furf -- thanks for reading, and following...Awesome, Furf -- thanks for reading, and following! :)Maxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09461058376299559449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266006862101015198.post-60250353487010159412011-03-22T12:07:32.624-07:002011-03-22T12:07:32.624-07:00Wow, this sounds awesome.
