I'm gonna try this year to do what I think could/should happen, as opposed to what I think will happen. I'm usually pretty close, but this year seems all over the map, partially due to the ten-wide Best Picture field. I've seen a fair number of these movies, I'm happy to say, and I can't believe some of these predictions (District 9 for Best Picture, no Clint for director, Avatar for screenplay) but I'm trying some crazy things just to see what happens. I'll be happy to be wrong in most cases. :)

Max- I'd say you're pretty dead on. I think Penelope Cruz for NINE over Marion Cotillard and maybe Diane Kruger instead of Melanie Laurent. We shall see.
ReplyDeletePretty much agree with everything, Max! Bold choice with Melanie Laurent! Would love to see it, but I get the feeling she won't be recognized.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I predict a screenplay nom for (500) Days of Summer. Other than tha we're, like, Oscar Nom Prediction twinz! Very good, Mbax!
Yeah, I'd say Penelope Cruz too, only that she hasn't really been recognized much elsewhere and Marion Cotillard has the bigger role. I'm rooting for Melanie, I just think she has more to do in the movie than Diane Kruger does.
